Joelene, A Love Story

This is Joelene, a beautiful American Staffordshire Terrier. She is the reason I started doing pet portraits. Joelene was a special dog and beloved member of her family. She brought joy and a certain amount of completeness to her human companion.  She was named after a popular country song sung by Dolly Parton by the same name.  Unfortunately her life was cut short by an irresponsible driver on an Alabama back road. She had escaped her fence and was hit by a car. Her owner grieved over her and still grieves to this day. To honor her baby, I created this custom portrait in pastel, immortalizing Joelene and providing her human companion with a likeness of her baby she can treasure forever.
